Janine Beckles

Janine started dancing at the age of six years old at Dance Theatre of Harlem for 8 yrs on full scholarship. She then continued her training at LaGuardia H.S. of the Performing Arts and the Ailey School (performing “Memoria”, “Hymn”, and “Revelations”) on full scholarship. Janine received a BFA in Dance Performance and a BA in Sociology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. Janine was a National Foundation of the Arts award recipient in Modern Dance. A former member of Dallas Black Dance Theatre for five years, Janine is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Janine has commercial dance experience by being a dancer for Beyonce for MTV’s Video Music Awards in 2016 and was represented through BLOC Agency. A teacher for the Philadelphia School of Dance Arts teaching ballet. She was a 2018-2019 School of American Ballet Teaching Fellow. Conducts masterclasses for Philadanco while on tour and assistant to choreographer Ray Mercer. She is a 2021 National Urban League Emerging Leader. In her spare time, she is an Assistant at a Law Firm here in Philadelphia, Board Member for the Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers Association, and an MBA candidate for Southern New Hampshire University with a concentration in Leadership. Janine is currently an adjunct professor at Rowan University and Assistant to the Artistic Director of Philadanco.
